Slollicum Peak

Plan A was to finally do Urquhart, it’s been on my list for so long but the drive is far so haven’t gotten to it yet - well, the gate is now locked again.
So we thought we pivot and do Old Settler as a recent report said the gate is unlocked - it wasn’t. So there went plan B. Ended up doing Slollicum Peak. It was a peak, slog up the forest, views are decent once you reach the ridge. Added some random mini scrambling at the top which was fun. Not much more to say, trail is in great condition, super easy hike. About 7km and 800m elevation gain.

Fyi: A sign at the bottom said “Slollicum Peak closed Mo-Fr”, then further up you reach a gate that says “no entry” but it was unlocked and it was Saturday so we decided to go ahead.

That’s funny Slollicum ended up being my back up peak when we got a flat tire on East Harrison a few months ago. It ended up being nicer than I expected. There’s more scrambling than I thought there would be!

I did slollicum late season years ago when I was very green and found the summit block covered in verglas. I did a pathetic crawl to the summit since I had brought no traction.
