This ridge sheds snow quickly, so we weren’t walking in it until just before the bump with the rock cairn on it. Never walking in it full time from there to the summit, just most of the time.
Roughly 10 - 15 cm of new snow from some time that past week to slosh through. Traction was not good. Spikes helped, but still not great in the slushy snow. Boots would have been better (I was in trail runners).
Only postholed once all day, and wouldn’t you know, it put a nice bite mark on my shin. Small tree underneath.
Springing. Great to see some colour again.
Lots of wildlife tracks past the cairned bump. A bear with some of the longest nails I have seen in a print. Perhaps he/she was running.
This canine print was in the same area as the bear track. Three times the size of Ty’s print, so there is no way that is coyote.
Viewpoint just below the east side of Mt. Thurston.
Once we hit the FSR below Thurston, we had coyote tracks to follow. That kept Ty entertained.
Mt. Mercer. Looked familiar for some reason.
Celebrating, requesting sardines, or demanding more sardines. Use your imagination.
Making amends for forgetting to do this on our previous east ridge trip. One of her favourites.
Heading back.
No wind whatsoever. Sun was in and out with the clouds rolling up and down along the ridge.
No bugs.
Dog done good.
