Mount Hoy April 16, 2025

After doing Pinder Peak the day before Katie and I decided we wanted to do a more chill P1k mountain. Mount Hoy was in the area and Chris Hood who goes after alot of Ultras or P1k’s just did Hoy 3 week prior. I asked him if a Honda CRV could get up the road and he said yes. We took the Noomas Main and then onto the SC main and managed to get the CRV to 970m. We stashed a few of our drinks into natures beer cooler and then started walking the rest of the road.

The snowshoes stayed off on the road because of the overnight freeze and we entered the mature open forest. It was hard as a rock so we put the snowshoes on for traction purposes only. After exiting the forest the terrain was wide open, rolling terrain to the top.

So this is what normal trips look and feel like eh?

The summit had a 2 weird pipe/vents on it, the 360 degree views you get from an 1100m prominent peak and we stayed up there for at least 45 minutes.

We decided to ramble around the summit ridge and then decided to take the ridge all the way back to the car which was a dumb idea. Should have just went back to the road because the ridge that parallels the road was undulating, and then just became not nice.

It was now time to go dig up the beers we stashed in the snow, have a few cold ones in the sun, and then head down to a rec site on Nimpkish Lake to freshen up. The mermaid went for a swim since she will swim in whatever lake she can find, while I’m not a fan of the cold plunge stuff. Once we were all comfy and settled in we drove to the next days FSR and setup camp to have some more drinks, and a big ass bonfire till about 11pm before calling it a day.
