Awaiting the gate opening.
Lots of water sources along the steep and rugged Swan Falls trail.
Took some baby steps and gave Ty some off leash time once in snow. Gave me one scare when he got the zoomies while descending and just kept running. Thankfully it was brief and wasn’t another attempt at freedom.
Summit success. Ty’s first time tagging Dilly Dally Peak at Buntzen. Some of Katie’s ashes are spread up there. One of her favourites.
Snowline was around 1000m, and we were walking in it full time not long after. I didn’t bring the snowshoes and didn’t need them. I did bring microspikes and gaitors, and didn’t need them either. I was in trail runners and made out perfectly fine. Good traction and stable steps. No postholing at all.
Sardine slurpee.
He may be upset that I ate one of the sardines. Dogs can count.

Bald Eagle checking us out.
More off leash action as we descend the ridge.

Meadows below the pass separating Mt. Beautiful and DD’s ridge. Roughly 1100m elevation. Still had good snow bridges over the creek. They worked, anyway.
Swan Falls.
They have moved the Swan Falls trailhead a bit south of the old trailhead. There is a nice little trail hooking up to the original trail. This new trail/trailhead has been there about a year or two, but it’s now official and sign posted.
So, it was Dilly Dally Peak with a Swan Falls trail ascent and descent. Tagging it this way is roughly 20km and 1450m of cumulative elevation gain. Took us 7:15 car to car.
